Winter Scenery Tours - A highlight with many of our guests. Enjoy a winter holiday for a minimum of 3 days available from December 1 to March 31. All meals and accommodations are included. Tours are scheduled to coincide with our guests' requirements. Travel by vehicle or on horseback when weather permits to view the snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies and the abundant wildlife. Return to the retreat to dine and rest overnight to prepare for the next day's excursion.

Snowmobiling Tours - Bring your own snowmobile and ride the numerous trails in the untouched wilderness in the deep foothills of our Alberta Rockies. (Due to liability reasons you must supply your own snow machine).

Cross Country Skiing - Cross-country ski along the Panther River or travel by vehicle to various neighbouring areas of the Burnt Timber, Wig Wam Creek and Wildhorse. You must bring your own boots and skis.

Guides for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are available if desired.

Wildlife Photography - Photograph wildlife in their natural winter habitat. Travel by vehicle or hike on the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch and film elk herds numbering up to 2500 head or Bighorn sheep on their winter range. There are excellent opportunities to sight moose and deer as well. Following the day's activities you will return to the retreat to relax for the evening.

Wild Horse Photography - Sunset also offers Wild Horse Photography in the winter months. Travel by vehicle or on horseback when weather permits to film the wild horses roaming freely in the many areas near the Panther River Retreat.
